On the participation of the Ambassador of Belarus N. Rogaschuk in the event dedicated to Victory Day
28.04.2026Belarusian Ambassador to Georgia Nikolai Rogaschuk participated in an event commemorating Victory Day at the Kukiya Cemetery, along with Tbilisi schoolchildren who won the Mikheil Gelovani Literary Competition. Representatives of the Georgian Council of Veterans and prominent public figures also participated.
The Kukiya Cemetery is one of the largest military burial sites in Georgia from the Great Patriotic War. It contains an obelisk of Military Glory, as well as mass graves and memorial plots dedicated to Red Army soldiers and officers who died in Tbilisi hospitals between 1941 and 1945. During those years, the city received a large number of wounded from the front, for whom evacuation hospitals were set up.
Today's event is not only a tribute to memory but also an important step in preparing young people for participation in international historical and patriotic initiatives. Of particular significance is the participation of schoolchildren who will represent Georgia in the Train of Memory project in 2026, dedicated to Victory Day. Train of Memory is an educational project, implemented with the support of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, which brings together schoolchildren from different countries to study history, visit memorial sites, and preserve a shared historical memory. By preserving the memory of the past, we shape a responsible future.
