Cooperation in the fields of education, sports, and tourism
Bilateral cooperation in the field of education continues to demonstrate positive momentum.
At the intergovernmental level, cooperation is governed by the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Education between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, which entered into force on 23 April 2015.
At the inter-university level, 33 cooperation agreements have been concluded.
In 2025, 121 Georgian citizens were enrolled in educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus.
Medical specialties remain the most popular among Georgian students, with 101 students studying at the Belarusian State Medical University.
Partner institutions regularly exchange invitations to participate in events in the fields of science, education, and youth policy, as well as internship and professional development programmes in areas of mutual interest. The parties also exchange information on scientific research and the implementation of joint research and educational projects. Seminars, round tables, online lectures, and other educational events are organized on a reciprocal basis.
In March 2026, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) (Minsk) and the Georgian Technical University (GTU) (Tbilisi).
Particular note should be made of the participation of the Mikheil Tumanishvili State Professional Film Actors Theatre in the 19th International Festival of Student and Youth Theatres “Teatralny Kufar, BSU–2025”, where it presented the performance Long Day's Journey into Night at Belarusian State University (BSU).
Cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism is regulated by the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of Georgia on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism, signed on 23 April 2015.
Georgia is included in the list of countries whose citizens are eligible for a visa-free entry and exit regime with the Republic of Belarus.
At present, Georgia is the most popular tourist destination for citizens of the Republic of Belarus. In 2025, the number of Belarusian visitors exceeded 150,000. Belarus ranks seventh among Georgia's most popular outbound tourism destinations.
The legal framework for Belarus–Georgia cooperation in the field of sports includes the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia on Cooperation in the Field of Sports, which entered into force on 1 September 2014.
Belarusian athletes regularly participate in international sporting events held in Georgia.
During the first quarter of 2026, Belarusian athletes travelled to Georgia to compete in international competitions in judo, karate, tennis, chess, and women's boxing.
In August and October 2025, Bakuriani hosted Belarusian biathlon training camps.
